Putussibau, Kalimantan Barat – On July 20, 2022, the Montfortians celebrate 75 years of the canonization of St. Montfortian. This celebration is also celebrated by the Montfortians in Kapuas Hulu and is centered in the Parish of the Immaculate Heart of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Putussibau. This celebration is done Together with PMRSH, Montfort Youth, and everyone else who works with the Montfortians. The Eucharistic Celebration was led by the Provincial Father of SMM Indonesia.
At the homily, Fr Bala, SMM (Assistant General) gave the reason why St. Montfort can be holy. First, Saint Montfort became a great saint because he had true devotion to Mary. According to his biographers, he was the beloved son of Mary. He loved Maria since childhood. His writings about Mary and his closeness to the Virgin Mary show that he was Mary's beloved child. He also wants us to be Mary's beloved children. The trick is to pray the Rosary every day and dedicate yourself to Mary.
The second is because he loves Jesus and wants Jesus Christ to be known in the world. The trick is to renew baptismal vows and help sinners. The way he helps sinners is by renewing the baptismal vows. Only in this way, we make Jesus Christ known in the world.
The third is because of his love for the poor. He really had a desire to help the poor and sick. When Montfort worked at the hospital, he met sick and bloody people. He helped the man. When asked about Montfort, he replied, “I want to show that God loves us all.”
After the celebration of the Eucharist, the commemoration of the Canonization of St. Montfort continued with a joint dinner. During this dinner together, Father provincial again reminded us that we all have the same opportunity to become saints, as long as we become good people: be good pastors, be good parents, be good children.
