Inauguration and Dedication of the Antonius of Padua Parish Church, Deep

Mendalam, Putussibau – October 18 and 19, 2022 are historic days for Antonius of Padua Parish, profound because the Inauguration and Dedication were held on those two days. Cap of the Bishop of Sintang Diocese, and Mgr. Agustinus Agus, Pr Bishop of the Archdiocese of Pontianak.

On October 19, 2022, the Dedication of the Parish Church of Antonius Padua, Mendalam was held. This dedication was carried out in a lively and solemn Eucharistic celebration led by Mgr. Samuel Otton Sidin, OFM. Cap and accompanied by Mgr. Agustinus Agus, Pr. In this Minutes of Dedication, Mgr. Samuel Otton Sidin, OFM. Cap declares and stipulates that:

  1. This church and its spiritual institutions have become a sacred place and object to be treated with due respect.
  2. This church should be used as a place for prayer and worship and other liturgical activities.
  3. This church is prohibited from being used for profane activities and things that are contrary to Catholic values, teachings, and morals.
  4. This church must be a means of growing faith and love, strengthening brotherhood (communion), cultivating holiness, strengthening service, and encouraging proclamation and witness.

At the end of the Eucharistic celebration, the committee gave time for several parties to give a speech, namely the Parish Priest, Mr. Kebing (Chairman of the DPRD of West Kalimantan Province) Mgr. Samuel Otton Sidin, OFM. Cap and accompanied by Mgr. Agustinus Agus, Pr. In his Address, Mr. Kebing reminded us that this new church should be put to good use by the people.

After the Eucharistic Celebration, everyone who took part in this celebration was invited to a joint meal that had been prepared by the committee and parishioners. Apart from eating together, the parishioners were also entertained by dances and songs performed by parishioners and guests.
