MONTFORT-SUR-MEU, France – Sunday, January 29 was a big celebration for the 350th anniversary of the birth of Father de Montfort. A large attendance filled the Church: parishioners, members of the great Montfortian Family, Hospitaliers who sometimes came from afar, participants of the “Marche Montfortaine”, a large group from Pontchâteau to whom a parish pilgrimage was organized on this occasion.
The Mass was presided over by the Archbishop of Rennes, Monsignor Pierre D'ORNELLAS, surrounded by Fr. Marco PASINATO, SMM who is representing the Superior General, Fr. Paulin RAMANANDRAIBE, SMM, the Provincial, several Montfortian Fathers and even Fr. Eugène, a Polish priest who spent a year in the parish and came from Poland especially for the occasion. Montfortian deacons and their wives were also present. The Mass was fervent, prayerful and joyful as supported by the parish musical group. Here is the Link of the Archbishop's homily for this great feast (First Reading: Acts 1:6-14 Psalm 22 (21) Second Reading: 1 Corinthians 1:17-25 Gospel: Matthew 28:16-20).
In the afternoon, many of us gathered at the Church for a concert led by Fr. Willy SELMAN, SMM and his choir. We were able to appreciate the hymns of Father de Montfort and experienced a moment of grace. Everyone rejoiced in this momentous occasion. It was a time of fraternity and joyful communion around Father de Montfort.
