The year 2004 was marked by a major shift in the situation of SMM Indonesia's formation. The council decided that in 2004, the brothers who had just spent the novitiate in Ruteng no longer attended philosophy and theology education in Bandung, but at STFT Widya Sasana Malang. Fr. Arnold Suhardi who previously served at the Bandung scholastic formation house was assigned to be the rector for the SMM brothers in Malang. Meanwhile in Bandung, the scholastic brothers who are still studying philosophy and theology at UNPAR are still allowed to attend education in Bandung for a year and then will be transferred to STFT Widya Sasana Malang. The number of the first brothers who started their education at STFT Widya Sasana Malang was ten people. Five of them are following the post-graduate program and the other five are following the undergraduate program. At first, they rented a house on JL. Langsep Barat Kav. 40. This rented house is not far from the STFT campus. In 2005, the construction house at Joyo Grand which had begun construction in 2004 was completed. The brothers who previously lived on Jl. Langsep, on July 20, 2005, moved to a new formation house located on Jl. Joyo Agung 100, Joyo Grand. They then joined the transfer brothers from FF UNPAR Bandung. On August 14, 2005, the new formation house was inaugurated by Mgr. HJS Pandoyoputro, OCarm. Fr. Konrad Hancu was then appointed rector of this new formation house for one year. In the second year (2006), Fr. Konrad hancu was transferred to Sintang and his replacement was Fr. Arnoldus Suhardi. This rented house is not far from the STFT campus.
