The History of the Emergence of the Congregation of the Daughters of Wisdom<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Congregation for the Daughters of Wisdom was founded on February 2, 1703, in France by Saint Louis-Marie de Montfort and Blessed Marie-Louise de Jesus. After a long time of standing and working in France and other parts of the world, the Sisters of the Daughters of Wisdom, through their mentors and pioneers, set foot on the earth of Indonesia, precisely on the island of Flores. In 2003, the island of Flores, which is in the eastern part of the Republic of Indonesia (NTT) later became the locus for the nurseries of the sisters' work and preaching. Regarding the exact origin of their arrival in Flores (Ruteng Diocese), to be precise at St. Parish. Montfort Poco, here are direct excerpts that we can read from the writings of Father Piet Derckx, SMM. She wrote thus: \u201cDecember 2, 2004, is a historic day for the Sisters of the Daughters of Wisdom. On that day, their home in the Parish of St. Montfort Poco was blessed by Mgr. Eduardus Sangsun, SVD (late). Also present at the ceremony were two members of the DW General Council, namely Sr. Louise Madore and Sr. Madeleine Cadour who came from Rome. The ceremony began with welcoming the guests of honor, Mr. Bishop and Mr. Regent, at the gate of the entrance to the Sister's house. Welcoming guests is carried out using the Manggarai custom. These guests were then ushered into the recreation room to continue the series of events. After delivering the introduction, the bishop went around blessing every room and corner of the building which was named Pondok Marie Louise, \"this building is a convent,\" emphasized the bishop, Mgr. Eduardus Sangsun, SVD (late). Still on the same occasion in the Marie-Louise Hut built behind the St. Parish church. Montfort's Sr. Jacqueline describes what her presence at Poco means. Inspired by the spirit of Blessed Marie Louise, the Princesses of Wisdom are willing to come to Poco to serve the people, especially for the development of women.\u201d

<\/p>\n

Spirituality of the Congregation of the Daughters of Wisdom<\/b><\/p>\n

The Sisters of the Daughters of Wisdom took root, and immersed themselves in the spirit and\/or spirituality of life inherited by Saint Louis-Marie Grignion de Montfort. Saint Montfort taught Marie Louise, as the co-founder of the DW congregation, that every sister of the Daughter of Wisdom should be called to follow her, that is, to seek, contemplate, and express the Eternal Love of Wisdom. Love for the Eternal Wisdom becomes the object of their search, reflection, and love. That is Jesus Christ, the Love that the Sisters of the Daughters of Wisdom seek and yearn for.<\/p>\n

The Sisters of the Daughters of Wisdom proclaimed themselves as individuals who in their daily life become their spiritual food throughout life-that is, have a wisdom, namely Jesus Christ incarnate in Mary, through Mary. And the way of life they take every day to make this happen is to dedicate themselves to Jesus-Wisdom, through Mary.

The Mission and Mission of the Daughters of Wisdom<\/b><\/p>\n

a. MISSION: \"Declare Christ's love for people, especially those who are neglected and rejected by society.\"<\/p>\n

The mission of taking sides with those who are socially rejected and abandoned by society is a basic choice of life for the Sisters of Daughters of Wisdom. Through this mission, they continue to strive for their presence everywhere, to be a blessing and a blessing to those who are marginalized. By stating the option for the vulnerable people, the Sisters of the Daughters of Wisdom have made them brothers and sisters by themselves. It might even be said that they wish to identify themselves with brothers and sisters who are neglected, rejected, and rejected by their fellowmen, as Jesus Christ, the Incarnate Wisdom proclaimed; \"I say to you, verily, whatever you did for one of the least of these My brethren, you did it for Me.\u201d (Matthew 25:40).<\/p>\n

b. The Mission of the Sisters of DW<\/p>\n

The Sisters of Daughters of Wisdom are called to render service in various areas of life. They are specially called to serve the people in the fields of education, health, social and pastoral activities. So far, since their presence in Flores, at the Community of the Daughters of Wisdom Sisters of Wisdom\u201d, Poco, the sisters have been and are currently serving the people in these areas. Some of the charitable activities they serve are very clear, namely organizing or opening 'PAUD' schools for children in St. Parish. Montfort, Poco. In addition, they are also actively involved in charitable services, visiting people, including giving the sacraments to the sick and the elderly.<\/p>\n

c. Membership of the Sisters of DW<\/p>\n

The DW Congregation is an international congregation. There are currently approximately 2100 Daughters of Wisdom in 22 countries. This congregation only entered Indonesia in 2003. Since the arrival of the pioneer sisters in Indonesia, who started their missionary work in Indonesia (Flores), several indigenous women have joined themselves with the Sisters of the Daughters of Wisdom. The following is a list of indigenous sisters from Indonesia. Most of them are from Flores and Timor, while others are missionary sisters from abroad (Canada, India, Madagascar). Below, I will briefly map the profiles of the Daughters of Wisdom (DW) Sisters in Indonesia.<\/p>\n

d. The First Missionary Sisters to Come to Indonesia<\/p>\n

According to historical records from Father Piet Derckx, SMM, it is said that two DW Sisters came to Indonesia for the first time, namely Sr. Jacqueline Lagrandeur, DW (Canada), and Sr. Jos\u00e9e, DW (Canada). Both can also be said to be pioneers -also along with Sr. Blandine, DW (Madagascar) and Sr. Molly, DW (India)- the start of the missionary work of the Sisters of Daughters of Wisdom in Indonesia (Flores), (Ed). Regarding the arrival of the two pioneer sisters, the following is a direct quote from Father Piet, SMM; \u201cOn August 2, 2003, Fr. Widodo, Fr. Ludovikus, and several scholastic brothers picked up Sr. Jacqueline Lagrandeur, DW (Canada) and Sr. Jos\u00e9e, DW (Canada) and took them to Jalan Gunung Kencana No. 10. They stayed in Bandung for three months to learn Indonesian before serving in Flores. They started their Indonesian language course on August 8 at the IMLAC Language Center, not far from Jalan Gunung Kencana. On 22 August the community of sisters was added to a sister from Madagascar, Sr. Blandine, DW. They inhabit part of the old novitiate which has become a community of the S 2 brothers. They are also still waiting for St. Molly, DW from India, but her arrival was delayed until February 2004, due to a minor accident in France. After being able to speak minimal Indonesian, on October 18, 2003, they moved to the Montfortian Novitiate in Ruteng.
