New Postulants embrace Montfortian Vocation in the Philippines

QUEZON CITY, Philippines – In celebrating the special feast of Mary, Queen of All Hearts, the Montfort Missionaries in the Philippines welcomed two new postulants on February 14, 2023, at the Mary Queen of All Hearts Chapel in Montfort Center of Spirituality and Postulancy House in Quezon City.

Bro Jessie James C. DATULAYTA from Argao, Cebu and Bro. Jay Birtte E. CUMALING from Tagum, Davao de Oro were officially welcomed into the postulancy program during the Eucharistic celebration preceded by the Vicar Councilor Fr. Sherwin NUNEZ, SMM.

The celebration begins at 5:30 PM with the praying of the Little Crown of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Fr. Federick B. YUMANG, SMM, the current Postulant Director, Rev. Fr. Paul Arnel LUCERO, SMM, Fr. Reynaldo BULLAS, SMM, and Rev. Armel R. COLLANTES, SMM, also concelebrated the Eucharistic celebration. The celebration was also attended by Montfortian Conferes, Scholastics, Madrinan Ladies, and Mr. Rodrigo JACABAN, Montfort Communications in Rome, who is currently in his home country for vacation.

In his homily, Fr. Sherwin highlighted the importance of believing in God's power to turn our aspirations into reality, even when we experience setbacks or disappointments. He emphasized that perseverance in faith is the key to reaching our goals, and we must trust in God's perfect timing.

The Mass concluded at 6:30 PM, followed by a sumptuous dinner prepared by the Postulancy Community. The gathering was a celebration of gratitude for the gift of vocation in the Montfortian family, and the special feast of Mary Queen of All Hearts.

The following day, February 15 – 17, the postulants had their recreation and retreat at Casa Angelina in Sta. Maria Laguna, together with their formators. The postulants gained a deeper understanding of the vision, mission, and goals of the community and the entire postulancy program for the next six months. It was also a time of relaxation and bonding for the postulants as they embarked on a new journey with the Montfort Missionaries.
